FREE Online Concussion Education - PATS has partnered with Sport Safety International to provide “Concussion Wise™” an online concussion education program designed for athletic trainers, coaches, parents, athletes and other health care professionals. The courses are FREE for coaches, parents, and athletes and can be found at www.concussionwise.com/pennsylvania The partnership coincides with the Governor’s recent signing of the “Safety in Youth Sports Act”, an Act establishing standards for managing concussions and traumatic brain injuries. At the completion of the course, learners will receive a completion certificate.
Medical Practice Act (of 1985) This is the law that recognizes ATs and how they practicing medicine in PA (Section 51.1).
State Board of Medicine and the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine Rules and Regulations. These documents further define the certification and practice standards of athletic trainers (Subchapter H). They were adopted July 13, 2007, and effective July 14, 2007.
